I remember this moment when I was around 6 years old, I went to Florida with my family and was staying at my grandmother’s condo. Outside of the condo was a pool that we went to a lot while we were down there, we called it the hot box, and at that hot box was an old man who seemed to be there every day he could be, with his wife. The man was a neighbor of my grandma when she lived in the condo, and this guy was a nice guy. He smelled of pickles as those were his favorite snack and he goofed off like a 10 year old boy even though he was 91. While in the pool I would always wear goggles, and that older man would always remind me of that. He would always crack up a joke that I was wearing “Googles” and he would purposely pronounce it that way just to crack me up. Though I recently found out that he passed away, he left an impact on how I want to treat others, though not a terribly immature self-esteem, I will always have a childish aspect because of the way that wonderful man showed how to properly treat others, still …show more content…
There are people who come out of their shell and are funny and loud and have a childish sense of humor, and they are always the most liked people because of their childish sense of humor. People make this “being like a child” thing seem like it is a bad thing but really it isn’t. It is how some people want to be and the whole point of being childish is to cheer other people up, and it would cause you to get more attention in a good way. Being a child is full of wonderment and enjoyment, so shouldn’t life be like that? If you get this point across your mind, acting a little childish won’t do any harm to anyone, it will help life be

Entering Mrs.Prasla's room terrified, I stared awkwardly at this woman, trying to conceal all signs of life. It seems every other week there’s a new article on how scientists should escape the ivory tower and reach out to the “general public.” A lack of public trust in scientists is leading to problems such as delayed action on climate change. In many ways, social media has been a boon, allowing scientists to open the door and bring the public into the ivory tower to poke at our pipettes and scales, smell the chemicals and bobcat urine, taste the day-old coffee and stale pizza, and listen to the hissing of turtles and whistling of fume hoods. At the same time, we are humanizing ourselves with nerdy jokes and excitement over summer blockbusters, squeeing over cute animal pictures, and commiserating over our disappointments or upsetting moments while conducting research. For perhaps the first time in history people have easy access to our labs and our lives, and are able to see…

why are humans so obsessed with excess? If we want something, something that we love, say a family member or even a burger, what compels us to want more than we need of it? For one, we may have an underlying fear of losing it, so we turn to the only solution we can think of, take as much as we possibly can since it could go away, or run out, or someone could take it from us. Perhaps, we become greedy because we are not quite satisfied with what we are getting, so we adopt the belief that more is better, five burgers will be more satisfying than one, when in fact it isn't a burger that we really want. Perhaps we may become greedy out of envy; the realisation that in reality, the family member and the burger that we love isn’t ours in that we…

Lescure 25 May 2016 Final Paper Over the last two decades, the increase of accessibility and ability to connect with others has tremendously expanded, creating an innumerable amount of diverse opportunities for self-expression. While this has opened up many doors for people to discover different styles and spark new interests, it can also create a sense of loss of identity through the limitless world of the Internet as social media and online communities voice a massive amount of opinions that can negatively affect how individuals think for themselves and form their own unique sense of identity. Andre Gide, a French writer, once said “It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for something you are not.” This quote explains how life should be lived, because in life you meet people who can be sham. To me it is terrible to live your life like this because you are trying to be somebody you’re not. If you live life being who you truly are, you will find happiness and be a better person, because being fake doesn’t solve anything. Some people don’t act like themselves and act fake in order to make friends that have not seen the true side of them.…
