Throughout my childhood, I experienced a great amount of leisure time that was spent playing outdoors with the supervision of an adult, as well as activities that involved the media, including watching television programs, playing computerized games, and communicating online with friends, all of which were monitored by my parents. In this paper, I argue that throughout my childhood, I had a balance between leisure time outdoors and access to the media. This challenges the crisis discourse which focuses on the relationship between modern childhood, outdoor play, and the media.
