As I observe four year old boy named Jose for 10 hours throughout the last mouth I was able to see his cognition, physical, social behavior, and personal development in a daycare center. I will be able to explain Jose’s behaviors from different theories from Professor Pelsoso's PowerPoints and Chip Wood's novel, "Yardsticks". This child shown he is going in the right direction in his development. Plus, he illustrated typical developmental behaviors for a four year old.

Cognitive development, is the way of processing information which can change by mental processes becoming more complex and sophisticated (Peloso). According to Woods four year olds are able to “learn responsibilities that are carefully taught” (Wood 53). In relation, children around 3 to 6 years old are able to understand planning and organizing behavior because this is the time where there is rapid growth in the frontal-lobe (Peloso). For instance, He knows when he comes into the classroom, he has to put away his jacket, sit down on the rug and wait till his name is called so he can wash his hands and sit in his table to engage in snack time with his friends. According to Pelsoso, a physical milestone is their ability to run, jump, hop or etc. Jose is active child, who likes to run and sometimes hop around the classroom. When he hears his favorite song, he jumps around. Another concept of physical development is fine motor skill, stated from woods four years uses their whole hands and normally writes big (Wood 52). When Jose writes his name the letters are big and space out. More often, he has shown good fine motor skills. The fact he able to put on his own jacket and able to help others put their coat on when asks to is proof of good fine motor skills. He also has the ability to hold pencils, markers and paint brushes with using his whole hands (this is typical for children his

Cognitive development is the construction of thought processes, including remembering, problem solving, and decision-making, from childhood through adolescence to adulthood (healthofchildren). From the age of 2 to 11 children are constantly discovering new things about themselves and their body, whether it be walking, talking or experiencing puberty. The cognitive difference between these two are tremendous and differ at each stage of growth. For example, a two-year-old is just learning how to walk and run properly while an eleven-year-old has been walking for years and is in middle school getting ready to enter adolescence. The stage between toddler and preteen is extreme, with this in mind, I chose to focus between these ages and observe…
