Children have become increasingly technologically advanced, and their parents encourage this behavior by giving them some embodiment of technology while eating in public to keep them restrained. You can feed two normal kids the equivalent way, but if one kid is active and one sits inside all day then one will weigh more than the other (Lumeng). There has been research that a child that is three years old is eight times more likely to be overweight as an adult, than an average three year old (Lumeng). Children today are already evaluated enough on how agile and athletic they are, being obese just makes childhood more callous on that child. Children should not have to worry about their dietary intake and their physical appearance. Parents should give their children guidance on what is more appropriate for their body and what is not. Children need to be children and enjoy life with no worries when they are young. Parents need to get involved and help their children be active (Silverstone,Teatum). There are a multitude of ways to be active and parents need to step in and encourage that to their …show more content…
It has also shown that if obesity runs in your family then you are more likely to inherit it than somebody who does not have obesity in their genes(Llwewllyn). Genes are not the only complication to do with obesity(Llwewllyn). Genes may increase ones probability to obesity but outside factors also have a major role in it as well(Llwewllyn). Dr. Clare Llwewllyn quotes, “These findings are important because they confirm that in children genes play a very important role in determining body weight. At present, only a few genetic variants have been discovered and these explain a very small amount of individual differences in body weight(around 2 percent). These findings suggest there are hundreds of other genetic variants influencing body weight that are yet to be discovered(Llwewllyn)”. Llwewllyn is suggesting that genes do have a minute factor but not enough for it to be the absolute reason why they are obese. Genes can play a role ,but there is not enough that have to do with obesity to be able to say genes are the main reason for childhood obesity. If your parents are obese does not mean you are going to be obese. There is a higher possibility of you being obese because of your parents than of those individuals whose parents are average weight, but not because of genetics. The reason could be that you get your habits from your parents that are causing you to be obese, such as, eating and
