Childhood Obesity Epidemic Essay

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions among children. Obesity is a physiological condition characterized by an excessive accumulation of body fat, specifically the build-up of adipose tissue beneath the skin. Obesity makes kid to physically become an adult and their tissue accumulate the same kind of damage seen in old people. Obesity can lead to heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions. There are three physiological results that correlate with the premature aging process associated with obese children’s bodies are heart problem, fatty liver and hormones. The heart cholesterol buildup can thicken artery walls which restrict blood to flow and increase the risk of heart diseases and stroke. Obesity causes a child to have a heart attack in his 30s and 40s because the cholesterol has thickened the artery wall which restrict the blood to flow. The fit for healthy program core involves communicating with kids. This program use a style known as motivational interviewing instead of dictating advice, to know what the child likes to do and get them to articulate themselves how to change their behavior also find things that can accommodate without putting them at risk for obesity. The AAP program are the most common and familiar lifestyle strategy which is healthier diet and exercise and cognitive behavioral therapy, which help kids to learn self-management. BMI is another program which help pediatrician to point out that a child’s may be trending in an unhealthy direction and some school have begun to measure student MBI and send the data to their parent. To me the BMI is the better program because it alert parent to know their child is health is moving to unhealthy direction so they will know how to help by changing child
