Childhood obesity in the United States considered as a major health issue in the last decades. “Compared with 1973 to 1974, the proportion of children 5 to 17 years of age who were obese was 5 times higher in 2008 to 2009. 23.9 million children ages 2 to 19 are overweight or obese.(Overweight & Obesity) children are at extreme risk of health problems because of many social and environmental factors. Obesity depends on US children’s physical activity and eating habits. Also parents financial status and time managing cause many US families to minimize spending money on these factors childhood obesity in the United States has become epidemic.

From doing research about obesity many more questions came to my mind. One of them was how does parents financial status affect children with their health? "Jobs, money, and social advancement compete in importance with raising children, and parents aren 't encouraged to keep their priorities straight," says Satter, author of Your Child 's Weight: Helping Without Harming." As a result, a high proportion of today 's children are anxious and depressed. As a society, we are abominable about feeding ourselves, only marginally better about feeding our children, and obsessed with weight." Parents don’t care about what their kids ate as long as they know they had a meal. Even though having a job and keeping it may be important, a parents main priority should be the well being of their children.
