For many years now Childhood Obesity has risen at an exponential rate. In the past 3 decades the number of obese children has more than quadrupled. Adolescents have been deprived of proper nutrition, guidance, and knowledge in most recent years. Some causes of childhood obesity include Media, Video Games and hereditary misguidance. It pains me to watch a mother that is clearly under stress feed her child McDonalds because of the convenience. To me, it is getting progressively worse and to change the pattern, it takes many necessary steps. It was recorded in 2002 that one-third of the child/adolescent population are borderline obese. The effects of childhood obesity can result in death if not given attention. Being overweight at a young age deprives a child from developing any type of self-confidence, as well as any motivation or ethic. Children are delicate creatures that will someday be our future, so we must do something to annihilate the pattern before what is considered normal is the furthest thing from the truth. Bad habits include, lack of personal hygiene skills, improper manners, and violent outbursts. If the adults of America today are supposed to be the role models for our next generation, then why is it that one third of our adolescent population is overweight? It all ties together. If the government was not seizing land and not building fast food restaurants instead of national state parks, then how can we blame anyone but ourselves. We are what we have created in society and cannot be ashamed in what we have created. All we can do is work to change the future for the better. Health problems include high blood-pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes. Ask yourself if you’d like to dig the hole for your 15-year-old son to be buried in. If the answer is no, then do what is necessary to change your offspring’s eating habits, lifestyle, and overall mindset. Keep in mind that adults being the older generation in America, need to set the example for our
