There are many ways for teachers, parents and school staff to help prevent childhood obesity and help children who are dealing with obesity. If nobody teaches children how to take care of their bodies they can run into big problems in the future. “Both the short term and long term effects of overweight on health are of concern because of the negative psychological and health consequences in childhood”. The negative psychological effects are depressive symptoms, poor body Image, low self-esteem, risk for eating disorders and Behavior and Learning Problems. All of these problems children with obesity have to face will effect their performance in school. How can schools and teacher expect their students to strive if they have these problems holding them back. And these problems are more likely to continue in the future as they become adults. Schools and teachers are able to spread the awareness of childhood obesity and take action. They can help their community for the better and help the students
