(1) The first thought that I remember was how in 1975 on a regular morning while Lois Lowry husband was away at work and her kids were at school. Lois Lowry had gone outside to scrape the leftovers to her dog and then she smelled something in the air that trigger one of her childhood memories when she was 8 or 9 years old in 1945.After she had a flashback on one of her childhood memories she went back into her house and went to her typewriter and sat down and began writing about that day. Her sentence that she wrote was “It was morning early, barley light cold for November I was nine and the war was over.” (2) The second thought I remember while listening to Lois lowry narrative was that in almost every book or story that she has ever written. …show more content…
Lois Lowry explains how THE GIVER is set in the future and is about a twelve year old boy experiences life in that future. Though in this book Lois Lowry explains how there is no crime because there is no money everybody had their “wants” taken care,as well there is no discrimination because everybody in that world is the same color.

Q2.(1) Well this is a two part question that I want to be answered from the THE GIVER. First of all while I was listening to Lois Lowry discussing her book called The Giver she’s said something very interesting that got my attention, she said “In this book there is no crime because there is no money everybody has their “wants” taken care of.” So my two part question is,”Who is giving the people everything what they “want” and, what kind of society do these people live in?”

(2) My second question is, “ How can everybody be the same skin color?” Could there have been some kind of chemical that exposed them so they would of have the same skin color, therefore there would have not been no more discrimination in the

I think why Lowry wrote this book was she wanted us the reader to experience a life in the future without discrimination and crime. Another reason why Lowry wrote this first novel was maybe she was influenced by her family members to write this book. Throughout her life Lowry always had flashbacks of her childhood memories. So I’m guessing why she wrote THE GIVER was maybe it had to do something of her past but who knows that just my opinion. Overall I think she was qualified to write THE GIVER because she 's has won awards recognizing her accomplishments as well she was one of the people who experience WWII from beginning to end. As well in her narrative story she mentions that her father had to go over the Pacific to help serve on a hospital ship called HOPE. So Lowry must of lived through WWII and the attacks of Pearl
