In our board, we used bright colors, easy words, and pictures to attract the attention of the preschoolers. Once we prepared our board, the next step was to practice and ensure we know our parts. Due to many different circumstance, this was revived once we got there, but it all worked out. Children learn off reputation, many of the classrooms use the MyPlate guides, so the children had a little knowledge background education. With these plates and food, we were able to provide hands on play, while learning at the same time. To interact and teach this child we laid out different foods that were health and nonhealthy snacks such as soda, apples, chips, pizza, bananas, green beans, and milk. The preschool age child is at an age that, they understand what is good and bad for their tummies and health. The children and I were able to interact by taking the food and placing them in the correct location on the MyPlate guides. We were able to teach the children the difference between vegetables, fruits, grains, protein, and dairy. Once we provided an example plate for the children, they were able to interact with the food and create their own health MyPlate. After creating their own MyPlate, we quizzed the children to see if our teaching was effect. We would ask questions such as, “What is your favorite health food”? With this question we were able to get answer such as apples, bananas,

Most of the kids by the first five minutes of this observational period finished and cleaned up their table. Seeing such a drastic that seems to come from about 4 to 6 is amazing, unlike the preschoolers and toddlers the middle childhood kids have begun to take on more responsibility for their actions and are actually able to contribute to the world around them. Understandably, this is nothing special and in all honesty I may be finding such meaningless task a bit too exciting, but simply put, the change that can be noticed each age group and with such a large change from the preschoolers observed before it is just amazing to think about how much…
