In the memoir "Fun Home" by Alison Bechdel, she talks about her childhood and her relationship with her parents. She starts off by telling us about a memory she has of her father, their in the woods walking up a hill to see the sun set. By the time her father had gotten up the hill he had missed the sun set. She goes on to show that her family wasn't connected at home, her father and mother were always working on something. She finds a tape recorder with some of both her parents work on it, which reminds her of them growing apart. Which left Alison to get little attention while at home. Towards the end of the section she remembers the talents that her father had taught her, for example the stanza he had added to her poem or when he helped her
