Our world today holds many wonders: television, computers, the internet, and a wide variety of highly connected devices, however like with most technological advancements there are those who would use them for nefarious purposes. Television alone has brought wonderful entertainment and news to our daily lives, and to our children's lives as well. Children spend quite a bit of time in front of the modern marvel of TV and in between their favorite shows they find something wonderful, the most amazing new toy they have ever seen, they have to have it to be happy, if they have it they'll make new friends, it's super amazing, at least that what the man on the tv said, and he's a grown-up so he wouldnt just lie to them. The first author stated,"The most harmful message is that happiness can be bought," and that message is one uninformed kids will blindly follow. Through the eyes of a child the world is a bright place full of wonderful things, to have a hope for that kind of happiness crushed just so a man in a suit can be a millionaire is beyond despicable. The world we know is a dark place, and with each exploited generation it will grow darker, unless we shield them from the cruelty.
