Child Soldiers Position Paper

Child soldiers should receive amnesty, but only to a certain extent. Children under the age of 18 should be given amnesty. Adults(children over the age of 18) shout not receive amnesty because they are adults and should know right from wrong and serve their consequences for their actions. Children are forced to make adult decisions. They are not able to live normal lives as kids like playing/hanging out with friends and toys or living with their families. “Forced to make decisions far beyond their years(In a war children without a childhood).” Many kids are forced to make adult decisions that they will not realize will affect other people or their own lives in the future. Some kids may know what will happen

“A way to protect myself and survive… I took people’s things by force(In aware children without a childhood).” There are kids in wars that chose to or not chose to join the fight. When they chose to fight it is usually to survive because their families die. But when they chose to fight, they don’t think of the consequences, saying that it was a way to survive, could there have been another way for them to survive and protect themselves, without injuring or even killing other people, or taking their things by force. It just shows what the kids are and what they will do to survive, and by surviving some of them chose to threaten, kill and take other people’s things by force without caring what the outcome is. “Children have seen their parents killed(Should child soldiers receive amnesty? Or not?).” It changes them, they don’t know what to do and they don’t have a choice sometimes but rather than to find comfort in the enemies arms, in the ones who killed their families. Everything is a choice in life, but some people don’t really think about the consequences of their actions and how they will affect everyone around …show more content…
“I closed my eyes and fired the gun… I missed so I fired again(Stolen kids turned into terrifying killers).” Killing someone is very bad and some child soldiers have killed for power or killed and they didn’t want to. Whether you mean to kill someone or not, there is always going to be consequences for your actions and because you are 18 and a legal adult, you should not receive amnesty for the decisions you have done in the past will affect the future. The kids fulfill their duties and are willing to kill in order to stay alive even though some may not want to kill. “I had power.” Some child soldiers didn’t care who they hurt, as long as they got to survive. Some liked to kill for power and wanting power shows that you are a bad person and willing to do anything in your own power to gain more power and if that means killing an innocent human being, then so be it, because some child soldiers don’t care who they kill or if they kill. Although some may argue that all child soldiers deserve amnesty, because they were brainwashed and forced to kill and have seen their parents killed, but that would be letting a serial killer or someone who accidentally killed someone else rome free with no jail time at all and just be allowed to live life like they used to. That wouldn’t be fair, child or adult, they should still be punished for their

Other people think that a crime is a crime no matter how old you are and that the child soldiers should be punished for the war crime. Both sides seem to be a fair case but only one could be the answer to this growing problem. Although child soldiers do not have amnesty now they do still deserve it because child soldiers often have no choice of where to go, brainwashed, and are only given the orders to commit the crimes. To begin, child soldiers are only child soldier because they are left with nowhere to go and no other options but to become a child soldier. In…

Images last week from an ISIS video appearing to show a child executing a hostage were horrific. The very idea of the "cubs of the caliphate," as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria dubs them, is stomach-churning.”) This statement and photos show that the children in the video are no more than 14 years old thus they would not have had enough experience in the world to make the right decision. (captaindarwin ) While some did this do to lack of experience while others did this because they were brainwashed by drugs and then threatened to kill or be killed.…

According to debatewise.org, it states, “It may be that the child thought it would be safer to enlist or factors such as poverty and hunger influenced their decision rather than a desire to fight. Once children are recruited into the military it is also difficult for them to leave because they become dependent on their commanders for drugs, alcohol, money and food.” What this evidence suggests is, that the child soldiers don’t go there to fight and kill people. The child soldiers just want to go there for the food and money. This shows that child soldiers should be given amnesty because they are forced to join the armed services for the money and food.…

Child soldiers a children who go into war with their country and many are in Africa's most dangerous places. Most child soldiers don't know what to do because they're either too young or don’t know anything about war or guns. Here we will see where most child soldiers are at and were in the world they are or what is happening now or before they joined. I support That they should not go on trial because its not really their fault, because they might of being forced or did not have someone to live with and was brought into the child soldiers army. And Most of the Children were forced to join or they would get killed, also they might of grown up with someone who was in the army of child soldiers and wanted to keep going with child soldiers.…

In the world today there are a total of 300,000 child soldiers in use. Not only that but also, 40% of militias, military, and terrorist groups use children . The problem with all these child soldiers is not only getting rid of them but also whether or not they should not be punished. They should be given amnesty because, they are forced into this life, put on narcotics by the leaders, and brainwashed to believe what they're doing is right. Many children are forced into this life due to things like poverty or peer pressure.…

One controversial issue over the past couple of years has been the topic of child soldiers. On one side, people argue that child soldiers should be prosecuted. On the other hand, others contend that they should be given amnesty. My own view is that child soldiers should be given forgiveness for what they have done because they were forced into killing, they were manipulated, and they only had one choice once they entered the army: Kill or be killed. When villages are attacked and families are taken away for children, they don’t know any better and they believe that the commanders are the adults that they should trust.…

Article 38: Governments must do everything they can to protect and care for children affected by war. Governments must not allow children under the age of 15 to take part in war or join the armed forces. I strongly believe that child soldiers under 18 should be given amnesty because of these three reasons: • Most of the children are forced into being soldiers • The child soldiers can’t leave once they are recruited • If they don’t follow orders they are killed and new kids are recruited against their will. A number of child soldiers today are difficult to distinguish, the UN estimates that some 300,000 children are involved in more than 30 conflicts worldwide today child soldiers should be given amnesty because most of these children…

When thinking of children, most see a young, innocent human, incapable of dark tendencies without being provoked. Others don’t see the mind, age, or body, but the murder or illegal act committed in another country as a child soldier. However, evidence from the I.C.C. (International Criminal Court), lives of these child soldiers, and the repercussions of not granting these children amnesty all show that child soldiers should be given a pardon for their convictions. Out of the I.C.C.’s 128 articles on crimes throughout the world, only a handful can be used to give evidence for child soldiers.…

When it comes to the topic of child soldiers, most of us will agree that it is wrong. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of if they should be prosecuted or granted amnesty. Whereas some are convinced that they are guilty of killing innocent people, others maintain the view that they could never have gotten out of the situation. First off, the children are forced into it. They are threatened with being guns and other weapons.…
