“Thousands of boys, some as young as 10, are purchased, kidnapped, or terrorized into joining the country's army.” (Gettleman) . Child soldiers are a terrible thing because the commanders are taking young children and brainwashing them until the children believe that they need to stay. Child soldiers are told to kill thousands of innocent people, even their own friends and family. If they do not follow the commander's orders then they are killed. No one should be allowed to take kids away and use them as their own puppets, telling them what to do every moment. So commanders should not be allowed to take child soldiers and order them around telling them what to do, and kill them if they do not. First of all children are being taken …show more content…
The commander will drug the kid until they kill. “Children are forced by commanders, false promises, drugs and things you can't even imagine, to kill innocent civilians, other children, and even their own families.” (Child2) All of these kids are being drugged so they will kill thousands of innocent people, even their own families. Another thing is kids are brainwashed by the use of drugs. “Once recruited the children become brainwashed through the use of drugs and alcohol.”(Child2) That is saying that children are being brainwashed so they think that they need to be there. He is saying that when he planned to kill the U.S and coalition forces, that was the happiest day of his life. Khadr has been happy with killing other people to. This is a lose lose situation because they are either killing people or they are dead. “They kill to stay alive and those who try to escape are killed.” (Child2) This quote is saying that they have a choice. They have to either kill and live, or try to get home and die. Millions of kids are either hurt, killed or permanently disabled. “In the last 10 years over 2 million children have been killed, over 1 million orphaned, over 6 million have been left seriously injured, or permanently disabled, and over 10 million have been diagnosed with psychological trauma.” (Child2) Over 19 million children have had something like that happen to them from being a child soldier.
