It starts with a child. By the age of three, these young, bound-to-be soldiers, are being taught how to hold a gun by the tip of their fingers. It’s common amongst countries that hold poverty or places where war breaks out through every corner. This is an endless supply of children, fighting as if adults. They don’t know any better; they’re children. However, does this mean they should be given amnesty? Or has empathy taken over our hearts and manipulated our minds to think these children should be forgiven? Children are the perfect weapon for many fighting against the enemy. They grow up with one thing in mind: to kill. Soldiers as young as three have been taught their beliefs and how to exterminate another being. If we were to give amnesty to all child soldiers, where would it stop? Where would the violence and forgiveness end in order for the world to become more safe? If amnesty is given to each child, the crimes would not stop. The majority of child soldiers have had their parents exterminated due to a cause of someone else's hands “Children often become child soldiers in acts of patriotism and in want to avenge the deaths of their family,” it says in the article Child Soldiers. Pain changes people’s mindsets and actions, however, that does not make it okay to take another's life, even if others have done the same.
