Child Soldiers Good For War Essay

Most people have no idea what is going on in countries such as Iraq, Sudan or various African countries such as Sierra Leone when it comes to children. Children are often forced into war at the tender ages of 7-15. They will spend years of their lives fighting and killing human beings to the point where they will never be able to forget the inhumane phenomenons. It is so smart for these countries to use child soldiers, because they are at an age where they are most likely going to follow orders without question. Children are significantly easier to mold compared to teens which is why they are good for war. However, the psychological wounds that any soldier has regardless of age will never fully heal. Child soldiers are most susceptible to lifelong trauma and suffering from war because they are growing up with some of the most savage conditions. As children our age wake up every morning to go to school, child soldiers wake up in the morning to go to war. As we go to socialize with our friends, a child soldier is killing someone or protecting themselves from getting killed. They are able to kill a human being up front without even having to think about it. Some of the tactics used were systematic-desensitization and sensory adaption. Those two combined would make the idea of war seem like a normal way of life for these children. The more people the children killed would desensitize them to the idea of murder. The more they would hear the sounds of gunshots, bombs, or cries for help would eventually make it seem normal.
