Human trafficking is a big issue in Cuba. The United States has once again placed Cuba on the list of countries involved in human trafficking. The most serious charge concerns child prostitution. Children of their country should be able to have a proper education and be with their parents, many children in the country of Cuba are kidnapped or taken away from their home in order to be forced to work at such a young age for strangers such as child molesters, thieves,criminals,rapists, or even murderers. Some of these children are even forced into sex trades in the country of Cuba. Many of these children or adults are even used as sex slaves. People are kidnapped, tortured, raped, and murdered everyday in Cuba. The UNICEF -- the United Nations Children's Fund -- does not share this opinion and, in fact, salutes the advanced made by Cuba in the field of child protection. The country of Cuba should have better protected houses, schools, and more security on duty at all times so these children will be protected more often like necessary. There should also be a larger penalty and punishment for those who do or attempt to commit the crime of human trafficking in any way, therefore the criminals thinking of committing this crime will think twice before considering doing the crime. Violations continue as political dissidents face beatings, and arbitrary arrest. In 2011 4 people were sentenced for criticizing the dictator, Fidel Castro. Two human rights defenders were sentenced in Holguin, charged with insulting national symbols and disorder for public acts that they denied had taken place. Shouldn't people of the country known as citizens be able to state there own opinion about the man in charge of running everything in the country they are living in? Government officials use scare tactics to scare dissidents. Government critics still continue to be imprisoned. Many report that they were beaten during arrest. Cuban representatives of the 53-year Castro family dynasty began their table-banging. Venezuela to shield its horrendous record of abuse and equally problematically, to validate other authoritarian governments such as Syria, Iran and one that sits shamefully on this council: Cuba’ 'Cuba is shameful'. In February 2010 suicide of Orlando Zapata Tamayo, a prisoner convicted of common crimes in Cuba, was pounced upon by the media much more than the discovery in January 2010 of a mass grave containing 2,000 bodies of trade unionists and human rights activists killed by the Colombian army.
