Child Predators Research Paper

Pew Research Center found that 92% of kids go online constantly and about 500,000 predators are online daily. Teens and children are using the Internet more often now and some don’t know about the risks of meeting people online. Predators know when kids will be online and connected throughout the day. The perpetrators might stalk the child and try to find out more information about them. They think they’re safe behind their electronic screens, but truth is, they aren’t okay at all. Kids might think they can trust their “new friend” but, they could be someone they never expected. Contact with people online can lead to kidnapping, sexual assault, and lack of real social interactions and any child could be in critical danger with just a click of a button. One of the issues of child predator incidents are that many children are online more often these days and this makes the offender know that kids will be on their technology frequently. Pew Research Center also says that 88% of kids have smartphones or tablets. Everyone pretty much knows when and how much each other are on their electronics, but who knows what they’re doing? Predators could easily stalk the kid when they post on their walls or feature on other friends’ blogs. This adds up and gives the culprit plenty of information about them to collect. They could even find out where they live and their phone number from certain websites that let you search things like that. A way to prevent stalkers is to be more lenient on what children can post online. Remember that once it’s sent, it can’t be erased for good.
