Child Observation Paper

Observing a child is an interesting experiences. I can find that the differences between the children real behave what I think about they behave before I observed. I observed a three year-old girl who is in preschool at California State University, Sacramento at around three in the afternoon. For the purpose of confidentially, I would call her Lina. There are couple teachers in the class, and each teacher has a group of children that they are responsible for. It is not a big class there are only about sixteen kids. They have their free time outdoor, and they have the options to play whatever they want to. Lina, the child that I observed is a cute white girl. I went out the room by following her. I found that children can be easily interacted from others. On the on hand, the teachers watered the tree and some plants, they turn on the water-tap, and some water was leaking out. Lina’s friend went over and played on it. Lina saw that for couple seconds, and then went by and played water together. While I was observing, there was a fire role at the child care center. Lina would follow the teachers’ direction to the area that they are supposed to go. Once she sat down, she started to play with the toys that she had even though the teacher was talking. After a while, another class came to the area and their teacher sang in order to calm them down. Lina turned her body and paid full attention to that group. The teacher sat next to her told her to listen to her teacher. She did not changed her mind until the group stopped singing. She sat by the end of one side, but she stood up suddenly, went to the other side, and sat down next to a girl, I thought that must be her friend. She tried to create communication with her friend that she talked about her friend’s clothes that she liked it. After the fire role, it was their free time again. She got together with the girl who she interacted the most. Lina asked her friend if she could reach the leaves on that tree. Both of them walked up to the little hill and pretended to touch the leaves, and then they walked closer by the tree and pretended to climb the tree. I also saw Lina sang with a toy which looked like a microphone. Children like pretending play with their peers even though it might not be succeed. Children would always like to play with peers, include Lina. She would like to get together with peers and try to talk and play with them. If she did not find anyone to play with, she could entertain herself, such as riding the bike, building puzzles, creating something with sand.
