The United Sates is known to be one of the fattest countries in the world. In this nation, most people live 3-5 years less than people in Canada, UK, France, Australia, Japan, Spain, Germany, and many other countries would. In the United States, we only live up to an average of 79 years. This is due to many factors, but the key factor in this is our diets.

In 2010, Barack Obama signed the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids act. The first lady launched MyPlate, an icon that helps parents make healthier choices for their families. In 2011, Wal-Mart announced a new Nutrition Charter through which they decreased the price of produce by $1 billion. In 2012, the USDA released new school meal regulations. In, 2015, some of the largest food manufacturers pledged to cut 1.5 trillion calories from the foods they sell through the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation. This has been a huge step in our diets. If the government had an even bigger say in our diets, then we would have better health
