Most child victims experience neglect. Neglect can be broken down into three different categories: physical, medical, and emotional. The most serious form of neglect is not feeding a child. This is physical neglect, as they will starve and become weak, but it is also a form of emotional neglect, because the people that are supposed to take care of them are depriving them. Medical neglect is pretty obvious, in that the caregiver refuses to seek medical attention for the child, which in worst-case scenarios, can result in death. The last category is emotional neglect, which is also very serious. An example of this could be excessive criticism of a child, telling them how useless they are, or how stupid they are. There is also child maltreatment.
