Today's Miss Orbach and I went over the Parent Mentioning Plan and the Child Mentoring Plan. We needed to go over everything we have been doing for the past 2 months. I also used this opportunity to give her a chance to ask me questions and to clarify anything she was uncertain about. Miss Orbach and I have been able to touch on many of the goals. Some she would try out and would not feel comfortable doing and we would move on others she did just enough to show she understood the steps. These tools will also give the children a reference point about what is going on day to day. With eight people, one of the best ways of staying on task and not missing any appointments is to simply have a hard copy of all the events hung up in a communal room of the house, such as the living room and kitchen. So, that she, Ryan and the children can be held accountable for what is going on in the house. We also went over how to go around DCP& P for some services. I explained that DCP&P is middleman and they have been reaching out on her behalf. I related this to the way I have been helping her. I have been reaching out to DCP&P letting them know her progress and the things she needs. She will have to remove the middleman and simply go to the services on her own and advocate for herself. This does not mean she no longer needs DCP&P. The main goal has always been to reduce her dependency on them, with the hope of getting her case …show more content…
The only way DCP& P knows she is making progress is through the monthly visits, when she reaches out to her DCP& P caseworker and when she goes to court. At her last court hearing the Judge ordered DCP& P to do several things for Miss Orbach and her family. Somethings they have been able to do and other things are still being decided upon. I let her know she does not always have to wait for DCP&P, she can reach out to these services to see what she can do on her own behalf and to show DCP&P that she is trying. In the time that I have worked with Miss Orbach the judge has ordered DCP&P to do many things, but did not set a time frame for them to do it in. This has been proven with respite care, school uniforms, Casper and a host of other
