According to Koller (2008), Child Life assessment is important in order to reduce the negative impact of children hospitalization. “[The Child Life Specialist] must determine whether a child is at risk for experiencing negative psychological sequelae,” (p. 3). The key issues for child life assessment are the child’s temperament and coping style, the child and parental level of anxiety, and the number of invasive medical procedures.
