It was even fought against before then and the fight continues to be fought still today. Although child labor was the worst during the Progressive Era, it still continues today in many countries but not in the U.S. due to laws against child labor. Many children are forced to work now for the same reasons that they had to back during the Progressive Era. People have continuously tried to stop it with numerous movements, but the lack of money and amount of cruelty in certain people/families forces children to remain working. Child labor was really recognized in the 20th century. People made it so that children had to be at least 12 to work even for a small amount. This shows that people made an effort to stop child labor. Children have been working for such a long time throughout history. There are records of strikes against it that go back many years. People are very committed to stopping child labor because it is and always has been a horrible idea. People known as the, “Knights of Labor,” fought against child labor in the late 1800’s. It is still going on today, but not as much as it was many years ago. “The Knights of Labor” hold movements against bad labor of all kinds. In many articles about child labor, it talks about how the conditions are horrible for anyone and is unfair for the children that have to withstand them. Still today, many children have to face these conditions and the low pay. Everything about child labor is unfair for the children because they have no choice on whether or not they wanted to do it. The conditions that the children had to experience were so bad that nobody at all should ever have to experience, not even adults. Children are the last people that should have to work at all, and even work with all of the horrible conditions that they have been forced to work with. This is mainly because their bodies and minds are not ready for it. Additionally, the conditions were very difficult which made it hard for the young children. Sadly, child labor has been going on for hundreds of years and has been followed by many strikes against it but still remains a problem children today. Many people today have been impacted in such a way that forces them to make sure that children will never be put to work like they once were again.
