Child Healing Gender Identity Disorder Research Paper

The disorder or disease I chose was Gender Identity Disorder. An Individual with this

disorder is uncomfortable with their given gender and identify persistent identification with the

opposite sex. There is a lot of criteria for the disease and how the disease develops.

The author of “Child Healing: Gender Identity Disorder” states that there are five main

signs of Gender Identity Disorder. They are repeating the desire to be the opposite sex, boys

preferring to cross-dress and girls wanting to wear masculine clothing, strong preference for

cross-dress and girls wanting to wear masculine clothing, the wanting to play games that the

opposite sex enjoys, and the preference to play with the opposite sex. Most of the time these

gross or that they will disappear, or the thought that it would just be better if they did not have a

penis, or the not wanting to rough play and not wanting to lay with the stereotypical male toys. In

girl children, they do not want to sit and pee, the thought that they will grow a penis, and the not

wanting to go through the menstrual cycle and grow boobs, or not wanting to wear typical girl

clothing. In adults, they have the wanting to get rid of certain sex characteristics with things like

surgery and requesting for hormones or with the belief that they were born the wrong sex (Child

In the article "APA Diagnostic Classification DSM-IV-TR" it is explained that there are

two ideas of how the disorder develops. The first one develops at conception. The genetic sex of

a child is determined at conception. One X chromosome from the mother and one X or
