Child Development Stage Analysis

At this stage I am most concerned that as a parent I do not fail in such a big step in my daughter development. She is about to start puberty and here comes the rebel phase, the mood swings and the curiosity for sex. I am concerned that in the generation we are living in kids are having sex without thinking of the consequences or the knowledge of it. My job as a parent is to let my daughter know everything regarding sex. I will let her know of all the risks she is bound to face if she decides to have sex. There is nothing I would stray my daughter from knowing. She deserves to know everything. For girls the first thing we as parents talk about is that they can get pregnant if they are not cautious and wear protection. As a parent I will not rely on the school to teach and inform my daughter everything she needs to know because as a parent it is important to talk about it and it is a job to do so. A lot of parents find it very uncomfortable to talk to their children about sex but it should be something that we should not stray away from. School only teaches children the basic things such as girls can get pregnant but they do not tell them about the other risks such as HIV or how it an affect their future if they become pregnant as such young age and for that reason I would not want depend on school to teach her about sex. I believe she is a smart girl and that everything I teach her will only help her in the long run or at least help her beware of the danger she can experience if she does decide to be intimate with someone. I do not want later on in life for her to throw in my face that I never warned her or told her about the consequences.
