Child Development: Physical, Cognitive, Social, And Observation

Throughout the observations I noticed there was a relatively even amount of information regarding the four developmental domains: physical, cognitive, social, and emotional. The first instance of physical development was in observation two when children were playing outside. Children were climbing the playground and running around in the play area. Children should be encouraged to run around while outside, if they aren’t then children are antsy in times when they need to be quiet and still. The second instance of physical development was found in observation five, when children were sitting at the table for breakfast. The children were aware of what was happening in their environment. The child is placed with the question as to if she wants to help the teacher and another child set up for breakfast or if she wants to go outside to play with the rest of the children. The child contemplates the question and decides to go outside with the other children.The child’s decision was probably based off whether she wanted her environment to be like at that moment. Most children would find the outside environment where they are able to run and play more enticing, but other children, especially when they first come into the classroom, might want a more relaxed environment to ease into the classroom …show more content…
This is important for a child’s growth in social development. This interaction gave the child a sense of belonging in the classroom, making her want to be at school. The second instance of social development was in observation two when children were playing on the playground. The children would gather together in a group and talk. Two children interacted on the playground due to the fact that they both had rakes they were playing with. They end up playing a chase game with the rakes. In this observation a teacher has also started a game of tag with a few children. When one of the children gets tagged the teacher tickles her, with another teacher joining in, tickling her as well. In observation three, two children are making a teacher “the perfect meal.” The children work together, adding only the best ingredients to make it just right for the teacher. The children argue over what the correct recipe is for it to be perfect, but without intervention the children are able to deliver the meal to the
