Staff Interaction
Throughout my visit I witnessed very positive interactions between the staff and the children. The baby room was very calm and the staff were warm and caring and showed that they have a genuine interest in the children. The children in the toddler room were active and had a wide choice of play opportunities available to them. The children in the 3-5 room were very focused on their learning and engaged in meaningful experiences. The children were very happy and confident and were happy to show me what they were doing.

Personal Plan
All the children had a personal plan and the plans that I sampled were written positively and were specific to the children individual needs.

The environment was clean welcoming and well resourced. The children had space to explore and learn and well as

Look at the dressing up areas in the room especially the toddlers. Ensure that the wall displays in the baby room are secure and that staples cannot be pulled out of the walls. Look at developing the under three’s garden.

Planning and making learning visible
Learning and planning is visible around the rooms and there is evidence of meaningful learning. Evidence of progress towards the improvement plan is in a floor book. There is evidence of staff, children and parents input in the self-evaluation and development of the nursery. Revisit to ensure the impact of these is also visible and communicated to the parents.

E Journals
The observations that I sampled were relevant to the children and showed individual learning. The staff used positive language when describing the children’s interaction and learning experiences. Look at using the curriculum tracker on the E journals to help inform planning ensuring that you are documenting the cross curricular experiences.
