The program focuses to help caregivers provide nurturance in an environment that helps children develop regulatory skills. Hence, the caregiver will learn to help to decrease behaviors that may be frightening or overwhelming to the child.
Services
It is recommended that the program session are provided weekly in one hour sessions. The length of the program is ten sessions. The program is typically conducted the the child’s adoptive home, birth family home, or kinship care. In addition, observations are recorded and daily activities are suggested.
Scoring
.The program is rated as a “1” on the Scientific Rating Scale based on the published, well supported research in the effectiveness of attachment and biobehavioral catch-up interventions. The practice documented in research studies noted a significant reduction in stress levels in children and their caregivers upon implementing the ABC practice.
