Affecting children across the world An anonymous person once said, “People ask”, “‘ how can a person abuse a child?”’ “ I ask,” “‘ how can so many good people not do anything about it?”. Child abusers are dangerous and awful people. They abuse innocent children who have done nothing wrong. As children are being abused everyday, people are just living their everyday life. This is a type of problem that will never be fully solved, but there are still ways to help it become less common. Child abuse is a serious problem, affecting children emotionally and physically because no one is taking action on this problem. It does not only affect the child for the rest of their life, but everyone involved in it.

Even after the abuse has stopped, the person's life is still affected forever. “Know the signs of sexual abuse of children. It affects all areas of their lives, including language development” ( Moore). As Moore said, it affects all areas of their life, forever. They have flashbacks memories. Little things everyday can trigger the child's memories. They may become socially awkward, not being able to talk normally. “Joy's therapist believes the little girl will need long-term treatment to cope with her fear and anger” (Graham). Joy is a girl who had been raped at a relative's house at four years old, as said in the article “ An Unacceptable Risk”. Joy, just like other kids that have been abused, sexually or physically are never going to forget what happened to them. Even though the child's abuse affected them the most, it also affects anyone and everyone involved with it. “The damage done by abuse affects more than the child and his or her parents.Everyone who cares for the child is a victim.” ( Graham). Parents of the child are heartbroken, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, even the abuser. Especially if it was a relative that did the abuse. First, if there are suspicions about a child possibly being abused, takes notes on him/her behavior, socialism, etc. “ Take notes. If you notice an increase or notably new presence of any of the symptoms above, write it down. Keep a journal of your observations with dates and times.” ( Moore). Keeping a notebook or journal can help figure out if it is just the child's personality or something is really going on. Also, people normally hesitate on the fact that a child is abused. If there are signs or a strange change in behavior report it, even if the suspicion could be wrong. “ Report to Child Protective Services.
