Child Abuse Research Paper Outline

Every year more than three million children are abused in the United States.(Child Helpcenter pg. 1). Child abuse is when a parent or caregiver, whether through action or failing to act, causes injury, death, emotional harm or risk of serious harm to a child. There are many forms of child abuse, including neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and emotional abuse.(parenthetical). Child abuse has been around since the beginning of humans. For many centuries the laws have failed to protect children from abuse. In English colonies children were considered property of their fathers until the late 1800’s. During the 16th and 17th centuries American colonists held the same tradition of children being property of their fathers, which lead thru the early years of the United States (parenthetical). thesis Emotional abuse is the least common type of child abuse. The parent or caregiver may fail to supervise the child, may be jelous, may have sexual relationships that are troubled, and may rely on child for emotional support (parenthetical). As a child they may have bruises, bleeding, itching of the genital area. They also might experience sitting, walking and bowel problems. With this it can also lead to sexual transmitted diseases. Children may act out inappropriately and it can cause them to have constant orgasms or excessive mastrubation (parenthetical). Some children can’t face the fact of what happened and run away from home because they do not want to start any drama.
