On 04/01/2016, at approximately 1920 hours, Officer Bowman and your affiant were requested to respond to the Family Dollar to speak with an individual whose purse had been stolen.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the 11 year old female victim. The victim placed her purse in a designated area for book bags which is a policy of the store to deter and lower the amount of thefts. The victim placed her purse there believing she was following the rules and proceeded to shop for diapers for her younger sibling at the request of her mother. The storage location to place book bags is located at the front of the building between the entrance and cash register/check out. When the victim returned, she learned her purse had been stolen.

A store employee replayed the surveillance video for Officers which revealed the victim place her purse in the storage area. During this time an unidentified female was standing at the cash register which was approximately ten feet behind the victim when she placed her purse in the storage area. The

SMITH related that she found a cell phone while shopping at the Family Dollar. She said the phone was on the floor near the laundry detergent aisle of the store. She attempted to identify the owner of the phone by searching the contents of it but was unsuccessful because the phone was locked. She placed the phone in her bag and stated she was planning on bringing it to the police department, but did not have a chance to drop it off yet. SMITH said she returned home from shopping and approximately 9 or 10 minutes later she received a call from a relative who advised her that a photo of her was on Facebook for being involved in a theft. I questioned her again on the location of the phone. She provided the same information as previously and added that the phone was the only thing in the area when she located
