My client is innocent because she was giving Mae Mobley, daughter of Elizabeth Leefolt, her basics rights that any child should receive from someone who loves them. The basic rights that a child should receive include, that children need commitment, they need to bond with their parents and that children need to be encouraged as they grow to know that they belong. This is according to the ‘Open Home Foundation’, who is an expert Christian organisation that works towards all children, everywhere in the world, to have a family to belong to. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, as we have heard, Ms Clark was sitting in Mae Mobley’s room and as she was telling Mae that “you is kind, you is smart, you is important.” This is a reference back to children’s basic rights, telling them that they are important and that they belong.
