A child’s behaviour is an outward manifestation of inner stability and security but as a victum of abuse and neglect the victums are likely to experience behavioral consequences. Child abuse and neglect appear to cause difficulties during their teenage years. NSCAW’s data shows that more than half of youth with reports of maltreatment are at risk of grade repetition, substance abuse, delinquency, truancy, or pregnancy (Administration for Children and Families, 2011).
