Child Abuse: A Personal Analysis

Growing up with my aunt I sometimes would feel like I was a maid instead of a child, I had plenty of rules to follow such as making sure I wake up early everyday to clean the entire house and make breakfast for everyone. There was a huge gender difference growing up, the boys did not have any chores to complete but, I had to do everything for everyone. The number one discipline the family used was spanking which I hated. I believe there are other ways to discipline a child instead of spanking or physically abuse, at first they would start with spanking then it leads to beating, kicking, or punching me with cruel intent. The discipline weren't the same for the boys, the boys had it easier because they never really disciplined them they were …show more content…
It has helped me to remain focused so that I can help others that might be experiencing what I have sadly experienced. Looking back as a child that was being raised as first with both parents home, with a loving father and caring mother, then having to live with other family members because my parents wanted to find better opportunities was traumatizing. I remember waking up some days not having anything to eat, going to school on an empty stomach, going back home, having to sleep with that empty stomach because of how jealous people were of me. Although, my life was not the best I am still happy and grateful for all the sessions life had taught me. It kills me not being able to share this information with my parents because I don’t want to hurt their feelings or cause family drama, however, I can tell that they sense I had a tough childhood because since I have been in the United State I have never contacted them or talk about them. I hope that one day I have the strength to face

Something that I would defend as being wrong no matter what anyone said is abuse. This is abuse toward any human and animal and in any form. People hurt others physically, sexually, mentally, or verbally for a few reasons, but it stems “from a desire to gain and maintain power and control”. They will hurt others over and over for their own gain. Abuse is wrong since it is unmoral to hurt other for their own personal gain or pleasure.…

Introduction: I am writing my Decision-Making Report over the need of the importance in learning to be able see the early signs of neglected or abused and what do at a child care facility or in a school. My main audience is the State of Texas Education. The reason I will write to this group of audience is because every school, day care facility should know and understand why it’s important to know the symptoms and know what should be done if a child is being neglected or abuse. While convincing the State of Texas Education about the problem with neglect and abuse, I will also talk about 3 possibilities there are for addressing/solving this problem. Audience questions: Neglect and abuse is something that increases every day in life.…

As the baby of the family, I was given more freedom than my older sister and cousins did. Birth order was not as significant as maturity in our home, but the older children did not agree with this. They won small victories like getting the front seat, always being called first when the family was announced, and given family heirlooms, but they desired more perks. My childhood and teenage years we much more relaxed and free than my sister’s or my cousin ’s.…

Giana Parise Child maltreatment is a devastating social problem in American society. In 1990, over 2 million cases of child abuse and neglect were reported to social service agencies. In the period 1979 through 1988, about 2,000 child deaths (ages 0-17) were recorded annually as a result of abuse and neglect , and an additional 160,000 cases resulted in serious injuries in 1990 alone (Daro and McCurdy, 1991). (4) However tragic and sensational, the counts of deaths and serious injuries provide limited insight into the pervasive long-term social, behavioral, and cognitive consequences of child abuse and neglect. Reports of child maltreatment alone also reveal little about the interactions among individuals, families, communities, and society that lead to such incidents.…

“Over the past 10 years, more than 20,000 American children are believed to have been killed in their own homes by family members.” As a whole, our country loses almost five children to abuse and neglect daily, but in Maine, news about abuse and neglect rarely hit the front page. On the contrary, it is not that there is a lack of the occurrence. So I was surprised to hear that 10-year-old Marissa Kennedy was murdered by her mother and stepfather after months of abuse near my hometown. Marissa Kennedy lived in Stockton Spring, Maine with her mom, stepdad, and 2 other siblings.…

After the age of three or four in the Middle Ages children played and took part in the same games and festivities as adults (McCauley, 2015). There was no category called childhood such as today where it is seen as a stage of life. During the 17th century and beyond children needed control and discipline this was through work and punishment such as physical discipline (McCauley, 2015). Corporal punishment has been around since the past being seen as accepted violence, minor and seen as benefiting the child’s behaviour. Throughout history spanking has been one of those disciplines that have either been accepted in society or not.…

America has many important problems that need help and solutions. One of those issues is child abuse. Child abuse is one of the biggest problems in America, “more than five children die every day as a result of child abuse” (Tennyson Center For Children). Regrettably, in the 80’s and early 90’s and even before that, child abuse was not an issue that could be solved by a social worker, rather it was an unseen issue, an issue that not even the authority could intervene. Fortunately, in the late 80’s non governmental charities came into existence to devote to child protection.…

(An Analysis of How we are told to Achieve Discipline) How we Discipline Discipline is something that all adults know how to do, and also any child with younger siblings as well. However, discipline in today’s society is much different than it was 50 years ago. Now, beating your wife or child with a belt or ruler or stick is not acceptable whereas it was encouraged 50 years ago. Some people think that the man of the house needs to have complete control and say over what goes on in his home and what is happening, and others disagree with that.…

Emotional Intelligence I believe I am lacking emotional intelligence because I don’t always manage my emotions well, but I can stay motivated when things are difficult in my life. There are many examples I could use, but I feel like the most recent would work best. Just a couple weeks ago I experienced myself acting irrationally towards my parents and I was neglecting their feelings, it all started when I began college. My parents were having a hard time with the transition of me not being home anymore and they were always calling and texting me wanting to know what I was doing, and it became very aggravating. My parents became too overwhelming and would not leave me alone, I eventually just stop responding for a while or when I was…

Speaking for Those too Young to Understand Child abuse is a national calamity that is appalling and often draws violent and emotional reactions. South Carolina has improved in child well-being the last several years, and statistics from Kids Count now indicate that we have risen from 45th to 42th in the nation for child well-being. While this is a step in the right direction, more can be done to save our innocent children from the atrocities of child abuse. Improvements can be made in how cases handled, through how many cases are responded to and the response time, and how information is permeated throughout the public, especially the amount of education given to children.…

Tradition presents a much different way of enforcing discipline than more modern philosophies of today. Many people today see the traditional way of discipline as borderline abuse, in that spanking was more readily accepted in the past. Those in the older generation may see today’s modern tactics as useless and unbeneficial. The modern disciplinary techniques are more about the reward for doing good, than punishment for doing bad. Like any other controversy, there are those who reside in the middle, who see the positives from both points.…
