I was taught very early in my career to treat the public and my co-workers as if they were family members. The family within the department is often very dysfunctional and unfortunately we often treat our fellow co-worker worse than anyone else. I have often seen members disrespect their co-workers in the wide open and in worst possible ways. This must be completely eliminated if the chief is to form a cohesive, well equipped and trained department to protect the public and insure that every effort is made so members are able to home to their family and loved ones. Treating even the worst criminal with respect is obtain difficult but successfully applied the offender is easier to deal with, but there are always exceptions to every rule so always stay vigilant when dealing with
