When you think of the word chickenpox you probably think about the time when you were younger and very itchy all over your body unless, you were one of the lucky few ones that didn’t catch the decease. Chickenpox is a highly common illness, which mostly affects children. The varicella zoster virus, a member of the herpes virus family, is what causes chickenpox, which is highly contagious. Most cases of chickenpox occur in children 1 to 14 years of age, however some people don’t get chickenpox until their early 20's (Fordney 2013,p.366). The best thing is to avoid scratching or rubbing itchy areas. As bad as you want to itch your scabs all over your body this is only making it worse.
