Chicano culture
Dear (Name) I have read an article that I find interesting; this document gives an explanation on the Chicaco’s culture and how women adopted it in their fight for equality in the world. The Chicanas is a movement that brought together women in the post World War 2 so that they may break the males ‘dominance in the world. Women have been manipulated in the past creating feminism. The purpose for writing you this letter is to inform you on the three Chicano cultures and how it has help women to identify their roles because I know that you may have a little understanding of it. It was once said that what a man can do, a woman can do better.
Chicano culture favored a large family. Before the World War 2, people were less informed on the birth control techniques and would always engage in a broad family. Women got themselves into marriages while still young, for example, Huarta was married at the age of twenty while Chavez got married one day shy of her twentieth birthday. What promoted this culture was because women did not engage themselves in some activities. The boy-child education was most favored. This situation is seen when parents take male children to school and leave the female at home. The women lacking option in life, they seek for marriages, not for love but just to end the frustration. It is observed from the culture that their parents arranged most of these unions and they had little or no say about it. However, when the movement started to pick up, we see two divorces happening according to the article. Women understand their rights and want to be treated equally to men.
