Higher education is increasingly becoming more important as society is constantly shifting and changing. Studies done by Pew Research illustrate that finishing with a four-year degree will substantially increase your career earnings, job satisfaction, and life opportunities to travel and experience culture. Although that is an important statistic and reason why to attend college, there are other reasons. Attending the University of Chicago will give me a lifetime opportunity to experience and grow in my personal life, and also prepare for a successful life in my academic quest for knowledge in political science and journalism. An excellence in academic standards starts with employing professors who hold students accountable. The faculty at The University of Chicago will push me to find new boundaries as well as, give me the intellectual tools to quench my curiosity in political science and journalism. I am eager to be in an environment where everyone will be excited to be in the classroom to progress. Which will result in further enhancing my college experience by being more productive, allowing for more creativity, and giving me the best opportunity to succeed. This is the foundation and pillars in which students become the next researchers, teachers, and thinkers. The professors are not there to babysit, but help, grow, challenge, create, and illustrate success in and out of the classroom. This philosophy continues to push the students’ quest for further growth in the academic world. There will also be great resources to take advantage of like a fantastic library, advisors and counselors, accessible computer labs, nonremedial tutoring, health services, and outreach groups during my time attending. It is the small details that can make the biggest difference in the middle of a semester. I am very excited to be part of a philosophy that is engaged in my studies throughout the entire
