According to Packer the contract was broken in 1978. That was when he noticed a dramatic change in American life. It was a time of high spread pessimism. Which included high gas prices, high inflation and high unemployment. Which is when he believed the contract was broken. Americans are more likely to turn a blind eye to things now and not really see the full picture. As being an American I do think about the wars and I don’t like to think about them and what really goes on. I think that I am able to abandon the thought because I think things will eventually be taken care of. One of the things that was brought up that I feel bad about is the amount of newspaper companies that have gone away and closed because their business is no longer needed. It makes me sad to think that, but there is nothing I can do about it. And humans are changing and evolving. As technology becomes more and more advanced there becomes a lesser need for those types of things. It is all
