Final Draft The Great Chicago Fire was fire that burned from Sunday, October 8, to early Tuesday, October 10, 1871. This fire killed up to 300 people, it also destroyed about 3.3 miles square miles of Chicago Illinois and left more than 100,000 residents homeless. The Great Chicago Fire was a devastating event, but there were some benefits that came after the deadliest fire in the history of the United States of America. Many people are only told about the devastation of the fire but, there were many benefits to Chicago after the fire. I gathered many information about many benefits after the Chicago Fire. After the Great Chicago Fire multiple universities were founded in Chicago, shortly after the fire the great Chicago skyline was built. This also led to great innovations in the skyscraper. It brought many architects into the city to rebuild the part of Chicago that has been burned to the ground. The Institute of technology was founded just 3 years after the Chicago Fire. 4 years after the fire, Chicago became the first city in the United States to have insurance on the skyscraper.
