Chicago City Description

Improved Essays
One of my favourite activities when exploring a new city, is hunting for the perfect view of the metropolitan center. With numerous skyscrapers gracing the skyline, and hugged between lake Michigan and Chicago River, Chicago boasts plenty of angles to capture the perfect photo.
If you’re looking for spectacular views, add these 3 spots to your itinerary when you’re planning a trip to Chicago.

Willis Tower

You’ll be sure to find some epic views from America’s second tallest building. Not only will you be able to count all the skyscrapers in the city, but also capture glances of 4 neighbouring states. The Willis Tower is located in the heart of Chicago and features a skydeck 1353 feet up high with glass boxes extending out by 4 feet. Even if

360 Hancock Observatory

In 40 seconds, the elevators will whisk you up 1000 feet to the 360 Chicago observation deck. The Hancock building is smaller than the Willis building, but still offers spectacular views over Chicago as well as Lake Michigan. If you’re like me and love capturing sunsets, you should visit the observatory on Monday nights. Only then you are allowed to bring a tripod to capture the beautiful sunset over Chicago.
Quick info
360 Chicago Observation Deck is open 365 days a year from 9am until 11pm.
Basic admission is $20 for adults, $13 for children, and free for children younger than 3.
The observatory is located on Michigan Avenue.

Helicopter ride

A more unique way to experience Chicago is by helicopter. With a truly unobstructed view of the skyline, you can properly marvel at the city sprawled below you. A helicopter flight is not only an exciting activity but you’ll also be able to capture the city in a way most can only dream of.
Quick info
There are several companies offering helicopter tours, so make sure to shop around and read the reviews. Chicago Helicopter Experience Tours offer daytime tours from $148 and Chicago Aerial Tours offer tours from

My Artist’s Statement on Eric Edward Esper work, the 1977 CTA EL Train derailment the crash killed about 12 people and injured over 180 in that area of Chicago. In the painting I was looking at many people that were being oblivious to their surroundings. Therefore there were more causalities because they were not paying attention the streets and sidewalks still had snow on them, and in the scenery the cars are going the opposite direction from the crash. A closer look at the painting and you can spot the frantic people looking or trying desperately to get out of the train. “The Loop” not only refers to Chicago's central business district, but also a rectangular pattern formed by the city's elevated trains.…

In 1997, the Longaberger Basket Company built its headquarters in Newark, Ohio. However, anyone who glances at the building is guaranteed to do a double-take. At first glance, the building looks like a giant basket, complete with handles. The company’s founder, Dave Longaberger, oversaw the design, stating, “if they can put a man on the moon, they can certainly build a building that’s shaped like a basket.” He was able to create this eye-catching metaphor by integrating the parts of a building into what people think when they imagine a basket.…

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

Peter Keating, with the secret assistance of Roark, enters Cosmo-Slotnick’s “Most Beautiful Building in the World” contest to build a ten million dollar skyscraper for the company. In winning the competition, Keating solidifies his fame in the architecture community, but also seals his fate as a second-hander because he took credit for Roark’s design. The design was classically ornate Renaissance, which Roark cannot stand, but the public adores. Many say that despite the fact that The Fountainhead was set in New York City, Chicago was the basis for the novel, as its architectural history is as unique, various, and beautiful as they come.…
