Trustworthiness can pull mountains. Oftentimes, when accused of wrongdoing, most people or organization don’t feel like justifying or owning their mistake. Whereas assuming responsibility and apologizing for the wrongdoing promote sympathy and acceptance from the public and clients. For example, Chi-Chi’s during Hepatitis A outbreak, the largest outbreak the nation had ever experienced (Srikameswaran, 2003), they accepted responsibility, issued apologies and proactively was working to fix the outbreak. These strategies stand as the biggest step and lessons others organization should learn from this company. It shows responsibility, boldness, honesty and “good faith”. Therefore, they did not lose their customers. Many faithful customers returned to the reopened Beaver Valley Mall Chi-Chi’s, (Sjoberg, 2005).
Lesson learned 3: Organization or food industries should invest in employing expert’s inspectors, followed strict food protocols or performed good quality control at every stage of the food production chain. Otherwise, they will in turn paid or spent more in case there is severe foodborne outbreaks.
