Experiment In order to find the relationship of gum chewing and concentration, we did the following experiment.
Firstly, we did our experiment in a quiet environment. We let our subjects play a game about stacking blocks and recorded their grades which are the numbers of blocks stacked successfully. Before the experiment officially begin, each subjects played the game for 5 times, in order to be familiar with the game.
Then, we let the subjects play the game without chewing anything and recorded their grades.
After that, let the subjects play the game when chewing gums and record the marks.
Finally, we repeated these three steps again in a noisy environment and recorded their score.
In the quiet environment, the average score without chewing gum is 48.6 and the average score with chewing gum is 52.35
By above statistic, chewing gum can make 7.7% improvement on attention in quiet places.
In terms to the noisy environment, the average score is 47.25 without chewing gum and 48.45 with chewing gum. The improvement on concentration is 2.54% in the noisy
