New vehicles are expensive by virtually anyone’s standards. Due to this, auto manufacturers must use very effective advertisements in order to persuade the consumer to spend this large amount of money on their product. The “still plays with trucks” ad shows a beautiful new Chevy truck on the edge of a cornfield, with the words, “Some of us grew up playing with tractors and trucks, the lucky ones still do,” proudly displayed above the truck. General Motors, an automobile manufacturer primarily in North America, most likely had an intended audience of hard working people, particularly farmers to grab the attention of with the “Still plays with trucks” ad. The main reason that an ad like this is effective is because the majority of people see hard work as a good thing. Farming and agriculture go hand-in-hand with hard work, and if the viewer of the ad thinks that purchasing a Chevy truck will be enjoyable and will help them to complete hard work, they are far more likely to do so. “Still plays with trucks” is an effective advertisement because it causes the reader to feel a sense of nostalgia and hard work.

If you study it closely, “Still plays with trucks” proudly displays in the print below the heading, “the Chevy 2500HD, powered by the Duramax diesel engine and Allison transmission, proven on the job and in the field for over a decade”. By including this statement, General Motors shows the viewer of the ad their successful experience in the diesel truck market. This statement can give any buyer of a new Chevy truck the feeling of satisfaction and confidence because the company knows what they are doing when it comes to building a long lasting and hardworking and has been doing it for many
