The Chevrolet Corvette is an iconic legend known for is thrilling power and speed. When talking about fast and legendary cars the Corvette comes out on top. However the Corvette did not always be the heart stopping supercar it is today. Chevrolet has came a very long way, making countless improvements over the six decades and have kept the Corvette legend alive. Most people won't know anything about this super car, other then it looks cool and gos fast. However even the car experts don't know all the little secrets and exciting facts about the Corvette. This car has been around for a long time, getting better and better every year and will continue its legacy for years to come. However the Corvette didn't start out as the souper car it is today. Altho it was made to be a sports car it wasn't fast at all. With its “blue flame” six-cylinder engine and two speed powerglide transmission, that was standard in all 300 1953 Corvettes didn't really sit you back like a sports car should(“Chevrolet Corvette History”). Moving on to 1955, the Corvette gets its new engine the v8 small block chevy. From that point on the souper car was born. Chevrolet gos into the 60’s with nothing else in mind but raw horsepower and making their car go fast. Now the 70’s, the body style changed in 1968 and pretty much stayed the same other than some bumper changes and different hoods all the way to 1982. Chevrolet now is starting to see that making the car lighter would make the car faster without having to put a 600 pound big block v8 in them. 1974 was the last year of the 454 big block, replacing it with a much lighter 350 small block(“Corvette, Past Present, Future”).
