Chester County: Case Study

Chester County is where I have been raised all my life, it’s a wonderful area. It is located in southern Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area, about fifteen miles from Philadelphia. Specifically it is located at 40.0010 degrees N, 75.8069 degrees W. William Penn founded the county in 1682 making it one of his three original Pennsylvania colonies. It was named after Chester, England. The landscape is beautiful here, lots of rolling hills and valleys flourishing with wildlife and plants. The entire county is very large, seven hundred and fifty-nine square miles or approximately four hundred eighty-five thousand six hundred acres in size. The average family size is three point one eight people and the median age of a person living in Chester County is thirty-nine point three years old. Furthermore, the median sales price of all homes sold in the county in 2014 was three hundred fifteen thousand dollars (CCPC, 2014 Housing Cost Profile, July 2015). Staying on the topic of money, there is a total of thirty-two banks with a total of one hundred and twenty-three branches. The median household income eighty-one thousand three hundred eighty dollars while the median family income eighty-eight thousand one hundred sixty-four dollars and the median per capita income is 40,763 dollars. There are lots of employed Americans in Chester County as well.
