The investigations that would need to be carried out regarding Mr P would be a chest x-ray as Mr P is bringing up a green coloured sputum and having pain in his chest. The chest x-ray will be essential for diagnosis purposes. A CURB65 score which consists of measuring confusion level, urea and electrolytes levels, respiratory rate, blood pressure and age (>65 years). Also, the C-reactive protein level should be measured. Also, a microbiological test should be carried out which would consist of blood and sputum test. We would also carry out a full blood test and liver function tests.
