This article discusses the wrongful dismissal happened on Leonard Collrin who was the longtime director and Cherry Brook Zoo.
Leonard Collrin worked for Cherry Brook Zoo for over 37 years, and his wife, Lynda, also worked as a volunteer for the zoo. The Collrins said their lives to the zoo and the animals, they lived in the zoo, so that they can provide all day service which means they work more than 80 hours every week. Nevertheless, the family was evicted of their home on July 6.
Collrin claim that they did not got any notice, however, they were expelled without any expected. Because of this expel, the Collrins’ personal items were damaged and broken. Instead, Cherry Brook Zoo was suspecting the Collrins’ misuse or appropriated funds, potential

The Collrins claim that they always work hard for the zoo, however, they were fired without any reason.
Under the Employment Standards Act, employees must be given an amount of notice if they are terminated without any reason. The Collrins can ask for termination notice, if it is statutory termination notice, as he worked in the zoo over 37 years, he can get the maximum pay which is 8 weeks’ pay; if the zoo’s payroll is over $2.5 million and more than 50 workers, he can also ask for severance pay which is 26 weeks’ pay; if the Collrins feel these are not reasonable notice, he can ask for the common law notice, consideration that Mr. Collrin worked over 37 years in the zoo as a director level, the court can award him maximum 24 months’ pay. Moreover, the Collrins said they did not get any warning and they were expelled with a very bad condition, if he get hurt because of this, the court will consider the aggravated damages with his medical proof. In addition, Cherry Brook Zoo was suspecting the Collrins’ misuse or appropriated funds, potential fraud of money and the investigation is ongoing, the zoo does not have a tangible proof and result, the court will say the zoo should follow the steps in progressive discipline, the zoo should give the Collrins oral warning, written warning, rehabilitation, suspension without pay, demotion and the last one is termination when the zoo found the financial
