The Cherokee language originated from the Iroquoian language. Cherokee is a polysynthetic language. A polysynthetic language means that one word can stand alone when spoken but have independent meanings. This language has a very unique syllabary writing system.
The Cherokee did lots of hunting. They hunted things such as, deer, bear, wild turkeys, and small game. They developed a useful hunting tool that made it easier to hunt. This tool is known a the tomahawk. The tomahawk is a balanced axe used for throwing. They also used the tomahawk to fight. It had a range of thirty feet. Colonials forced the native americans out of there homeland into new designated areas called reservations. During the trail of tears native americans were specifically moved to an area to the west of the mississippi river. The trail of tears lasted from 1831 to 1850.
The Cherokee women did most of the farming. They grew things such as, beans, corn and squash. Most of the Cherokee meals consisted of cornbread, soups and stews. Their meals were cooked on stone hearths. They would make large bonfires and use the hot rocks on top as their
